Preview of Today’s IPL Match (May 6, 8pm): Daredevils vs Indians | Head-to-head, Match Prediction and Playing XI

Delhi Daredevils (DD) failed to chase down a paltry target of 143 at one of the great batting tracks in the country and lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 14 runs in the reverse fixture at the Wankhede Stadium.

DD vs MI Head-to-head

With their win at the Wankhede Stadium earlier this season, Mumbai nudged ahead of Delhi in the head-to-head record, which currently stands at DD 9-10 MI.

In seven matches between these two teams at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi have a 5-2 record over the two-time IPL champions, whose last win at the Kotla came way back in 2011. They have lost here on each of their last four visits.

Match 45: DD vs MI Playing XI

Delhi and Mumbai must be high on confidence after their last two results and, at the same time, have settled playing XIs.

Daredevils took everyone by surprise with their decision to not field Chris Morris in the playing XI for their last match against Gujarat Lions. The South African bowling all-rounder is expected to return to the side for Saturday’s home clash against Mumbai. Morris is likely to replace Marlon Samuels.

Zaheer Khan is expected to remain on the sidelines, though his return to action is not far away.

DD’s probable playing XI vs MI: 1. Karun Nair (c), 2. Sanju Samson, 3. Shreyas Iyer, 4. Rishabh Pant (wk), 5. Corey Anderson, 6. Chris Morris, 7. Pat Cummins, 8. Kagiso Rabada, 9. Mohammed Shami, 10. Amit Mishra, and 11. Shahbaz Nadeem

Actual playing XI for Daredevils: 1. Zaheer Khan (c) 2. Karun Nair, 3. Sanju Samson, 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Rishabh Pant (wk), 6. Corey Anderson, 7. Marlon Samuels, 8. Pat Cummins, 9. Kagiso Rabada, 10. Mohammed Shami, 11. Amit Mishra

Mumbai have a couple of players who are injury doubts for the match against Delhi. Harbhajan Singh missed his team’s last match at home against Royal Challengers Bangalore due to an injury, and Krunal Pandya suffered a knee injury while fielding in the same match.

The two-time IPL champions have had a five-day break since their last match, but we do not have news about the fitness levels of Harbhajan and Krunal for tonight’s match against Delhi.

MI’s probable playing XI vs DD: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Parthiv Patel (wk), 3. Jos Buttler, 4. Nitish Rana, 5. Kieron Pollard, 6. Karn Sharma/Krunal Pandya, 7. Hardik Pandya, 8. Harbhajan Singh/Krishnappa Gowtham/Jagadeesha Suchith 9. Lasith Malinga, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, and 11. Mitchell McClenaghan

Actual playing XI for Mumbai: 1. Rohit Sharma (c), 2. Parthiv Patel (wk), 3. Lendl Simmons, 4. Nitish Rana, 5. Kieron Pollard, 6. Karn Sharma, 7. Hardik Pandya, 8. Harbhajan Singh 9. Lasith Malinga, 10. Jasprit Bumrah, and 11. Mitchell McClenaghan

DD vs MI: Match Prediction

Delhi’s batsmen have made the most of facing two docile, low-quality bowling attacks in their last two matches and achieved the right and necessary result from their IPL season’s perspective. Mumbai’s bowling attack is among the potent in the league, so the likes of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson can expect a proper test of their credentials on Saturday evening. Delhi themselves boast a quality bowling attack and as a result, the result of match 45 could well come down to which team bats better, as was the case in the reverse fixture between Delhi and Mumbai.
