Most sixes in IPL by a team
Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) hold the record for the most sixes in IPL by a team with 1296 maximums. 2020 was their best season in terms of six-hitting as they smashed 137 sixes on their way to winning the title.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have struck the second and third-most sixes by a team in IPL, with 1276 and 1165 respectively.
Chennai Super Kings have hit 1163 sixes despite having played only 12 seasons of IPL—they were suspended for the 2016 and 2017 season. Their best season was IPL 2018, in which they struck 145 sixes, the most ever by a team in a single IPL season.
Kolkata Knight Riders (with 1111) and Delhi Capitals (with 1041) take the fifth and sixth spots in terms of most sixes in IPL by a team. KKR’s relatively small tally is surprising given the number of big hitters they have had over the years.
Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant have hit just over 150 maximums each in their two IPL campaigns (2016 and 2017).
