Most sixes-hitting team in IPL history
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the team who have hit the most sixes in the history of IPL, with precisely 1038 hits over the fence. Their best season in terms of six-hitting was in 2016, when they reached the final and finished the season with 142 sixes.
Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have struck the second and third-most sixes by a team in IPL, with 968 and 884 respectively. Mumbai Indians have played each of the IPL seasons so far and their best season was 2015, in which they struck 120 sixes. Super Kings have played only nine seasons of IPL—they were suspended for the 2016 and 2017 season—and yet, are only 84 sixes short of Mumbai in the overall standings. Their best season was IPL 2018, in which they struck 145 sixes, the most ever by a team in a single IPL season.
Kings XI Punjab (with 864), Delhi Daredevils (with 800) and Kolkata Knight Riders (with 785) take the third, fourth and fifth spots in terms of most 6s in IPL by a team. KKR’s relatively small tally is surprising given the number of big hitters they have had over the years.
Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant have hit just over 150 maximums each in their two IPL campaigns (2016 and 2017).
