Most sixes-hitting team in IPL history
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are the team who have hit the most sixes in the history of IPL, with precisely 1131 hits over the fence. Their best season in terms of six-hitting was in 2016, when they reached the final and finished the season with 142 sixes.
Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have struck the second and third-most sixes by a team in IPL, with 1083 and 974 respectively. Mumbai Indians have played each of the IPL seasons so far and their best season was 2015, in which they struck 120 sixes.
Chennai Super Kings have hit 973 sixes despite having played only 10 seasons of IPL—they were suspended for the 2016 and 2017 season. Their best season was IPL 2018, in which they struck 145 sixes, the most ever by a team in a single IPL season.
Kolkata Knight Riders (with 927) and Delhi Capitals (with 887) take the fifth and sixth spots in terms of most 6s in IPL by a team. KKR’s relatively small tally is surprising given the number of big hitters they have had over the years.
Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant have hit just over 150 maximums each in their two IPL campaigns (2016 and 2017).
