India’s ODI record at home is good against most teams, with Australia, Pakistan and West Indies being the exceptions. Of the 64 home ODIs against Australia to date, India have won 29 to Australia’s 30, with five matches producing no result. Against Pakistan, India have won only 11 of the 30 ODIs, 19 of which have been won by their arch-rivals. Against the West Indies, India have a 28-28 win-loss record in ODIs.
However, against the other major cricket nations such as England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, India’s record at home is good. India hold a 31-16 win-loss record in ODIs at home against England, 26-8 against New Zealand in 35 ODIs, 15-13 against South Africa in 28 ODIs, and an overwhelming record of 36-12 in 51 ODIs against Sri Lanka.

India’s ODI record away from home is dismal except against the lesser-ranked teams. India’s ODI record in Australia is 14 wins and 38 losses in 54 matches, two of which have not produced a result. In England, they have a 16-22 win-loss record in 42 matches, three of which have produced no results and one match ended in a tie. In New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa also, India’s ODI record is inferior: against the Kiwis, they have won only 14 of the 42 ODIs, against Pakistan, they have won 11 of the 27 ODIs, and, against South Africa, they have won only 10 of the 34 ODIs. Five of those wins came in the most recent tour of the rainbow nation in January 2018.
Thanks to their recent successes against Sri Lanka in the Island nation, India hold a 28-27 head to head record in ODIs against the Lankan Lions. Against West Indies, however, India have won only 14 of the 36 ODIs they have played in the Caribbean to date.

Pakistan are the team who have played against India the most at neutral venues and they also have a superior head to head record against their arch-rival, winning an impressive 55.55 per cent of the matches. Australia are the only other team who have a superior win record against India at neutral venues, though they have played against India at neutral venues only 24 times compared to the 72 meetings between India and Pakistan.
Overall, India’s win percentage in ODIs at neutral venues is 53.33, with their losing 41.75 per cent of their neutral ODIs.
