India vs Bangladesh 1st Test 2019, key stats

  • India extended their record against Bangladesh to eight wins and two draws with a thumping victory by an innings and 130 runs in the 10th Test between the two teams.
  • The foundation for India’s resounding victory was laid by the pace trio of Mohammed Shami (7), Umesh Yadav (4) and Ishant Sharma (3), who took 14 wickets between them to help bowl out Bangladesh twice while conceding only 363 runs.
  • In between, Mayank Agarwal registered his second Test double-century and third Test hundred—243—which is now also his highest score in Test cricket. The Indian opener was dropped by Imrul Kayes when on 32 and, thereafter, Agarwal stamped his authority on the Bangladeshi bowling attack that failed to extract the same level of purchase the Indian bowlers managed from the Indore pitch. Agarwal hit 28 fours and eight sixes in his innings.
  • Virat Kohli registered his 32nd Test win as India’s Test captain. Playing his 83rd Test, Kohli was dismissed without scoring by Abu Jayed. It is only the 10th time that Kohli fell for a duck in Test cricket.
